Sustainability Practices

The Hotel Costa Calero is continually working to improve the impact we have on people and places.

We are committed to reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, as well as protecting and supporting biodiversity. As part of that commitment, in 2025 we have set the goal of reducing our greenhouse gas emissions from mains water by 50% and our carbon footprint from energy by 20% before the end of August 2026.

We know there is still work to be done, and since 2025 we have been implementing a series of new initiatives across all our operations to help us reach our August 2026 target.

We encourage our valued guests, employees, and visitors to support us by following the reminders we have distributed throughout the hotel on saving water and energy, whilst minimizing waste.

We are proud of the activities we are undertaking to achieve our goal of revitalizing native plant species, such as the Gofio plant, which is in sharp decline, as well as maintaining the population of the endemic Canary Island palms and the gardens dedicated exclusively to cactus species, also native to the Canary Islands.

In 2026 we will continue to support several sports teams, just as we did in 2025, to always encourage and promote sports among young people and even support sports teams that fight against social issues in our society.

Hotel Costa Calero is committed to respecting and protecting human rights. We believe that everyone should be treated fairly and respectfully. As part of this commitment, we regularly train our staff on the prevention of any kind of harassment or discrimination.

We are also committed to safeguarding the wellfare of children and young people. Our policy is to always report any suspected instances of child exploitation or abuse to the police. We encourage our guests, staff, and visitors to report any suspicion of child exploitation or abuse to Reception, dialing Nr 9 via the internal phones or by visiting in person, so we can contact the police and help to ensure the case is reported.
